My last one got a bit finicky and then I realized it was nearly ten years old with heavy industrial use, so not so bad. The batteries die quickly, though and don’t give a warning before dying suddenly, so I got in the habit of carrying spare batteries with me. It does have a low battery indicator, but that begins to show low battery shortly after replacing the old one and it and remains low for about 70% of the batterie’s life.I might still take my old one apart and check inside. I had a similar model when I was an apprentice, and the test lead terminal posts that were attached to the circuit board with screws had loosened casing intermittent readings. That old one is still good too, but it doesn’t have the rating for the industrial work I do now.The only thing is you can't move the decimal point like most other meters, but for the price this is a good and practical Multimeter.Has min. Max. Feature and dual displays.Wish I would've spent a little more for DC amps feature.I ordered 2 of these meters for Christmas gifts. I have not used this meter but based the purchase off of the satisfaction I have had using the discontinued model 61-702 for many years. The meters were delivered in 2 days from the order date. I removed one of the meters from its blister package as it was quite easy to get into. I was quite pleased with the apparent build quality and features of the meter. Even the included alligator clip is exceedingly well made and I have not seen another like it. Perfectly adequate instructions are included. Unfortunately, the 2nd package had just the meter and was missing the case, leads, instructions and alligator clip. It appears the blister pack that the meter is packaged in is quite easy to come open by accident. It is easy to understand how they could have fallen out at some point. All of the plastic packaging I curse at for requiring sheet metal scissors to cut open, I finally get an easy-open package and get punished for it. I was not happy about having to go through any return process but since this is the first time I have had to return something on Amazon in over a hundred purchases I figured I could deal with it. I was blown away with how efficient the process on Amazon was. Within minutes of realizing a package was missing items, I was able to go into my orders and schedule the return. I had received the package on Friday and a replacement meter was on my doorstep on Sunday. I found that a dropoff center was just a couple of blocks from my work and it took me LESS THAN ONE MINUTE to get out of the car, drop the item off and get back in the car. I did not even have to box it up. Thanks Amazon! Why didn't anyone think of this before? This is something that should have been done years before this was released.I have to take readings on variety of different types of equipment - air conditioning, industrial ice plant equipment, commercial cranes, marine equipment, power pedestals ... Quite a bit of the equipment has restricted access (to put it nicely) and trying to attach a meter and read the display is difficult at best. Funny thing i s that usually you have a clear view of the but of the meter when it is in place. The display is not always easily readable in the direct sun (most displays are though). Definitely make taking readings easier. The ideal tight sight tester is simply amazing. From the back lot screen to the bottom tight sight view this tester is very handy. Also helpful for me is the max and min feature which has allowed me on multiple occasions of varying load to clamp a wire, hit max and walk away and come back and see the highest ampacity. Overall I’d buy this again for sure.ThanksI'm an electrician in Massachusetts and I had this one for 5 years until I left it clamped to a pipe while troubleshooting a boiler. Oops! Bought it again and the quality is the same. Always accurate readings and really tough. The light feature and the bottom display door sets this meter apart from the rest.Product good , buying through Amazon was a nightmare.Product arrived very quick as have most Amazon orders I've placed recently. The Ideal 61-765 looks to be a great clamp meter. I opted for this one as it is capable of both AC/DC current measurement. It looks to be well built. Although there is no indication as to how well it will tolerate being dropped, I surmised that a meter that is used by many electricians etc. would have to stand up reasonably well to abuse for them to be using them (this is of course conjecture on my part). Haven't had it long, but the testing I've done show it to be quite accurate, and thus far I would have no reservations about recommending it for serious consideration as an option to anyone desiring to get a decent quality meter at an affordable price.had one before and wanted the exact same one
