This relatively cheap tool is a must have if you work on fiber. Sure, you can use it to identify a break in a fiber, or you can use it to check for continuity, but most pro's will use a optical power meter to find the dB loss. Where this puppy comes in handy is for identifying the mystery fiber that the original installer was too lazy to label! Just put this tester on one end, turn it on and go to the far end. You'll easily be able to see which fiber is glowing!How much light will it put out from a fiber? Enough to light up your hand from the far end. Easy-pesy!
