I’m compelled to write a review the same day I received it. Only because I received the item literally 2 days after I ordered it, regardless of Amazon stating that I was going to receive it in 2 weeks after I ordered it. Right on!Now to the review of the actual product. It works as expected and the quality of the item is amazing...with a caveat. I’ve been researching this item a couple weeks before I ordered it and there is a major issue with this particular model, KP184.When I initially received the unit and powered it up, the display initialized and was all zeros. I moved the device on my desk to reposition it and all of a sudden, it beeped and rebooted. When the display came back, it was reading 18volts while I never even attached a power supply or battery to the test terminals. I immediately powered it off to resolve a common issue on these model DC loads from Kunkin!proceed at your own risk!Note: what I’m about to tell you will probably invalidate your warranty.I removed the top cover on the device by removing 5 Phillips screws on each side. On the bottom of the device, a transformer is mounted to the bottom case. Near the top of the transformer is a circuit board that contains the MOSFET transistors screwed to the large fan-cooled heatsink. These transistors are the main devices that handles the current placed by the power source under test.Because the KP184 can handle 400watts of power dissipation, it requires the second circuit board with additional MOSFETs. The problem is that the clearance from the transformer to one of the MOSFETs mounting screw is very small, causing the transformer to short out to the screw. Since the transformer is electrically connected to earth ground via the chassis, it causes undesirable electrical connection through the MOSFET, causing undesired operation or possible damage through your load or power source under test. That’s why I immediately powered the device off when it was acting weird.The fix is simple. Place electrical tape over the top of the transformer so it does not short out to the MOSFETs screw.Other than that, this is an extremely well built product. Please don’t let this minor issue dissuade you from purchasing this. This simple fix will provide you a DC load with great features.You can test a myriad of devices, as it has constant current, constant voltage, constant power, and constant resistance modes.Trying to test the capacity of your lithium iron battery packs? You get a lot of features for the price.Chinese built products are getting better and better, while offering someone like me an affordable solution for the hobby.Regardless of the minor design flaw, this one gets 5 stars from me!
