Il tester è semplice da usare e permette di verificare, pin per pin, se il collegamento è funzionante su ciascuno di essi. Per verificare un cavo volante si inserisce ciascuna estremità nei due ingressi del tester principale e si può selezionare manualmente i vari pin da verificare, oppure la modalità automatica (che seleziona i pin in maniera automatica uno dopo l'altro). Per effettuare il test di un cavo che collega stanze differenti, si utilizza il secondo dispositivo più piccolo per un capo del filo e l'unità principale per l'altro capo: impostando la modalità automatica l'unità principale fa il test dei pin uno dopo l'altro, senza aver bisogno di fare avanti e indietro per le stanze per andare a selezionare il pin successivo. Funziona con una batteria da 9 volt.
